XML sitemap generator
We crawl your site from the home page the way a search engine does, following links and respecting robots.txt, then give you a sitemap.xml of the pages that should be indexed, plus a list of pages that need fixing.
What it checks
Crawl your site and download a clean sitemap.xml, with broken pages listed.
- Crawls up to 500 pages by following links, and skips what robots.txt blocks
- Lists only pages that load, aren't noindex and are their own canonical
- Adds last-modified dates when your server provides them
- Reports broken pages, redirects, noindex pages and canonicalized pages, with the page that linked to each
Frequently asked questions
Where do I put the sitemap?
Upload sitemap.xml to your site's root, add the line "Sitemap: https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml" to robots.txt, and submit it in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
Why no priority or change frequency?
Google ignores both, so they add nothing. Accurate last-modified dates are the part that helps.
My CMS already makes a sitemap. Do I need this?
Probably not for the file itself. Run the crawl anyway: comparing what it finds with your CMS sitemap reveals broken links, orphaned pages and pages that shouldn't be listed.
